• At least two years of professional work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours)

• Leadership qualities and the ability to influence change

• A commitment to return home after the program and contribute to national development

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must:

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory

• Commit to returning to their home country for a minimum of two years after the award

• Have completed an undergraduate degree that qualifies for a UK master’s programme

• Possess at least two years of work experience (2,800 hours)

• Apply to three eligible UK master’s courses and hold at least one unconditional offer by the stated deadline

Application Timeline (2026–2027 Intake)

The Chevening selection process is highly competitive and takes approximately eight months from application submission to final selection. Key dates include:

• 5 August 2025 – Applications open at 12:00 UTC

• 7 October 2025 – Applications close at 12:00 UTC/GMT

• October 2025 – Eligibility review

• Mid-October 2025 – January 2026 – Reading committees assess applications

• Mid-February 2026 – Shortlisted applicants notified and invited for interviews

• March – April 2026 – Interviews held at British embassies and high commissions worldwide

• Mid-June 2026 – Final results announced

• 9 July 2026 – Deadline to submit at least one unconditional UK university offer (by 17:00 BST)

• September/October 2026 – Chevening Scholars begin their studies in the UK
